The LAFORTUNA at the ace of swords possibly referred to the condition, that in the game L'Ombre the Ace of spades (called "Spadille") had been the highest trump. The third highest trump (Ace of Clubs) was called Basto, likely from Bastoni.

The woodcut block probably belonged to a set with 40 cards. L'Ombre was played with 40 cards.
