I have said that every year brings forth some new consideration, and Dr.Thierens promises another work, while the speculation which has just been adventured speaks of things unattempted and yet conceived in themind. There is no intention signified; but I know what emblems wouldadorn it. How things will stand with the Tarot in days to come may loomtherefore vaguely; but obviously there are activities to come. There is,however, one side of the subject on which no horizon opens. As to wherethe Trumps Major originated, how and with whom, there is no conclaveof adepts to tell us and no isolated student, holding evidential warrants. At the moment we can look only for more speculations and more dreamsto come.It follows that the true symbol belonging to Trump MajorNo. XII, though it is by no means that of Lévi, is not a Hanged Man at all; but it will continue to be depicted in this manner unless and until theGreater Arcana are issued by the authority of another Secret Circle, which so far has never testified officially concerning itself in the outerchannels of research.

There is reason to suspect this last information, possibly an error.

The central figure of the Waida conference is Karl Germer. The German wiki text is very short, not really interesting. The English text has much more details.

1200–1260 Joachim of Fiore This Italian mystic determined that the Millennium would begin between 1200 and 1260.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joachim_of_Fiore

1284 Pope Innocent III Pope Innocent III (died 1216) predicted that the world would end 666 years after the rise of Islam.
https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Pope_Innocent_III

1290, 1335 Joachimites After his 1260 prediction failed, the followers of Joachim of Fiore rescheduled the end of the world to 1290 and then again to 1335.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joachimites

1346–1351 Various Europeans The black plague spreading across Europe was interpreted by many as the sign of the end of times.

1368–1370 Jean de Roquetaillade This French alchemist predicted the Antichrist was to come in 1366 and the Millennium would begin either in 1368 or 1370.

John of Rheinfelden in 1377 had mainly an orientation to playing card decks with 13 cards for each suit . I think, it is a good question, if the choice of this dominant card system happened, cause the medium playing cards arrived in Europe either in a century, which was called 13th century, or in a century, in which the year numbers started with a 13.. (= 14th century)
Are there sure documents, that playing cards had this favour for the 13 already outside of Europe? In China? Other Asean countries?
Is it possible, that European speculations about the end of the world influenced the numbers of playing cards?

Re: Trionfi.com: News and Updates

Wikipedia has an article about Chinese playing cards. The number "13" is not used in the text.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_playing_cards

Very early domino cards are reported. Domino values have not much interest in the number 13.

***********************

Of special interest in the article is a deck with 38 cards, which in a later extension has 40 cards
Money-suited cards

Various types of Money-suited playing cards
Further information: Jiaozi (currency) and Jiaochao
Money-suited cards have attracted the most attention from scholars. They are considered to be the ancestors of most of the world's playing cards. Each suit represents a different unit of currency. Lu Rong (1436–1494) described a four-suited 38-card deck:

Cash or Coins: 1 to 9 Cash
Strings of Cash: 1 to 9 Strings
Myriads of Strings: 1 to 9 Myriad
Tens of Myriads: 20 to 90 Myriad, Hundred Myriad, Thousand Myriad, and Myriad Myriad (11 cards in total) [my note: this makes 9+9+9+11 = 38 cards in 4 suits]
There is no 10 Myriad card as it would share the same name as its suit. By the late 16th-century, the suit of Cash added two more cards: Half Cash and Zero Cash. [my note: this makes 38+2 = 40 cards and the suit of Cash has now 13 cards .... but 16th century is later than the European 13th or 14th century]
****************
My note :
The 38 card deck has in its suit system similar structures as the later Tarot

Money suited cards: 4 suits 9-9-9-11 ... 3 cards of the Cash suit have a special function
Tarot: 5 suits 14-14-14-14-22 ... 3 cards of the Trump suit (0 Fool, 1 Magician, 21 World) have a special function
.... and 38 cards are nearly the half of 78 cards

I found this ...
Holy Years
First and foremost, it is a traditional religious event: a solemn pilgrimage to St. Peter's and St. Paul's basilicas and other churches in Rome. The very first Holy Year was officially held in 1300.
Das erste Heilige Jahr wurde 1300 von Papst Bonifatius VIII. (1294-1303) ausgerufen. Ursprünglich als Jahrhundertereignis gedacht, wurde es zunächst im Abstand von 50 und dann 33 Jahren wiederholt. Der Rhythmus von 25 Jahren besteht seit 1470.
Translation: The first Holy Year was proclaimed in 1300 by Pope Boniface VIII (1294-1303). Originally intended as a centennial event, it was first repeated every 50 years and then every 33 years. The 25-year cycle has been in place since 1470.
I remember from other studies, that Pope Boniface VIII was a rather difficult man.
Boniface VIII put forward some of the strongest claims of any pope to temporal as well as spiritual power. He involved himself often with foreign affairs, including in France, Sicily, Italy, and the First War of Scottish Independence. These views, and his chronic intervention in temporal affairs, led to many bitter quarrels with Albert I of Germany, Philip IV of France, and Dante Alighieri, who expected the pope to soon arrive at the eighth circle of Hell in his Divine Comedy, among the simoniacs.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Boniface_VIII

Long years after his death Boniface still caused trouble and this had the effect, that later Popes lived in France and not in Italy for a long time.
Pope Clement V
Clement was the first of seven French popes who would reside in France from 1309 to 1379. After pope Clement V moved the papal court to Avignon, six other popes served their terms from this location. Pope John XXII was the pope from 1316 to 1334. Pope Benedict XII served from 1334 to 1342.
