Hi Everyone,
I’m offering for sale a rare and fascinating set of 18th-century English “Conversation Cards”, published by S. Hooper, London, circa 1770–1775. These were a gift from my father, and while I’m not an expert, I’ve researched them carefully and they appear to be an excellent opportunity for collectors of antique playing cards, Georgian ephemera, or early fortune-telling items.
This original group includes 22 copper-engraved cards, each beautifully detailed and captioned with themes reflecting Georgian social life and moral character. Titles include: Crime, Gentleman, Law or Security, Garden, Plenty, Lady, Trade & Comedy, Gluttony, Cottage, Church, Oeconomy, Somebody, Heart, Old Bachelor, Wit, Charity, Poverty, Punishment, Shift & Make Shift, Nobody, Industry, and Harlequin or Player.
What would be the best option for me to sell these cards?
Best Regards
David
