Thanks, Huck and Mikeh. Now the dates fit better. I was confused before. I think what you say is true, especially considering that Orlando already had four sons by 1362. I wasn't aware of that will. Thanks. Later, Orlando made another will in 1391, according to what I think I read in Treccani. That means Orlando made a will at least three times in his life. The 1391 will only mentions three sons; it doesn't mention the youngest son, named Orlando or Rolando, like his father. We might assume that he disliked his youngest son and didn't leave him an inheritance, but I imagine that son had died since he was also captain of Milan, and that job carries a risk of death. Besides, he has no children in the family tree after 1713 (date noted lower right). That's anecdotal since that son isn't very important to us. However, I think Fibbia married and had children around 1390. So, Orlando's will, made in 1391, could give us a clue as to when Fibbia adopted the surname Fibbia, because I don't know if his surname was Fibbia before or after he married and had children. Perhaps the 1391 will mentions the surname Fibbia when naming Orlando's son, Francesco, who is our Prince Fibbia. Or perhaps that 1391 will doesn't mention Fibbia at all, in which case it's possible that Prince Francesco adopted the surname later.
