Question :
I have no idea of the value of the 1479 command from Roi René to Tavernier for the whole command :

PANSIER writes 16 (?) or (46 '?)florins and 6 sous
Image

Image

Then he gives as data D'AGNEL 18 Florins and 9 gros
Image

Added now : So if I add the 2 commands
18f° 9g°
27f° 6s°
___________
45 f° 6s°+ 9g° ) circa the 46 f° 6 s° of Pansier (if 1 sous =1 gros , and if 10 gros or 10 sous are worth 1 Florin, then it should be 46 florins 5 sous...)
___________

Should be this amount Tavernier gives for the commands of January and March 1479

We would have the 11 (6+5) Miroirs as he says if we join the two commands of january and march 1479.
Pansier wished to list the two commands to Tavernier for the whole year 1479.

But only the entry 565 of D'AGNEL of January 1479 is specific of Cards.

Now, D'AGNEL :
Image

It is said :
15 janvier 1479

First :7 écus et demy
and at last : 18 Florins et 9 gros

Anyway, D'AGNEL is the reliable source.

Nota

New question : how much is worth a Florentine florin in 1417 and 1479?

Many variation in the gold ...

15/01/1479 : René command of 2 decks to Tavernier

163
Conclusion :
The right entry to a command of two decks of cards to Tavernier by King René in January 15th 1479 is :
Entry 565 p.198 Volume I :

Abbé G Arnaud D'Agnel Les Comptes du Roi René publiés d'après les originaux conservés aux Archives des Bouches du Rhône Tome Premier
Paris Librairie Alphonse Picard et Fils Librairie des Archives Nationales et de la Société de l' Ecole des Chartes 1908

The value of the whole command is 18 FLORINS 9 Gros noted XVIII f° IX g°

Maybe with an account of : 7 Ecus et demi noted "sept escuz et demy"

This means that we have no idea of the price of these two decks.
The probability is that it were hand painted cards because Tavernier is not only a card maker but a painter relatively notorious in Avignon ...

Huck wrote:The value of the decks stays not specified, as one doesn't know the value of the other items. Well, likely they weren't cheap.

Did you get pictures or other contributions of Tavernier?

Tavernier was engaged to organize festivities in 1473 for Cardinal Charles de Bourbon.

Hi Huck

I noted this two days ago
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=691&start=150#p18186
PANSIER about Tavenier : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5Hg6j ... lTNTA/view
What is also interesting is when Charles de Bourbon access to Cardilanat, the paintor is commissioned for a big street feast in Avignon with défilés and a Fool - well paid.
I also noted :
Tavernier is not only a cardmaker (maître cartier : many years of formation) but a painter (with 3 years of formation under a Master from Burgundy settled in Avignon.

Speaking aloud ... and not forgetting COSSA and not forgetting that René had also at his Court many paintors and miniaturists on parchment.
WIKIPEDIA

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Cossa
Just after King René has many astrologers and mainly Guillaume de Carpentras who made also for him, the Duke of Milan and Charles VIII astrolabes.
https://books.google.fr/books?id=rukDAA ... II&f=false

2. King René also seetles in his house in Avignon for the first time in1476, the same year Cossa does and that Charles de Bourbon is resiliated.

WIKIPEDIA
"mars 1465.

I had noted somewhere a reference about Charles de Bourbon, Della Rovere and Louis XI : René leads the negociation...
In mai 1476, Julien de la Rovere is with King René who is in charge of the negociation with Louis XI
https://books.google.fr/books?id=MI7hK- ... re&f=false

Charles ii de Bourbon :
WIKIPEDIA
King René leads the Delegation in May 1476 and brings Julien de la Rovere to Lyon meet Louis XI.

3. The year before the command of 1479 that is in 1478, René is in his house for the second time in Avignon.
It is most likely that he, as a painter, parcheminer and enluminor was already in connection with Tavernier.

A "miroir des morts" made in 1479 by "Arnaud Tavernery" was later in Angers, where Renee was buried (but he didn't die there).

Added:
If the bill was paid at January 15, 1479, naturally the commission should have given in 1478. When and how long Renee had been in Avignon?

Link about Miroir des Morts doesnt work for me!

Well, he has his famous house in avignon with the tarasque painted :
