I am convinced that this card suggest clearly a Papaver somniferum at the top.
Traditionally associated with love meeting,so I am not surprised about this.

Just see also the eyes of both creatures ...
Re: Two of Cups = Papaver somniferum
2I can imagine a number of decks you may have in mind in relation to the opium poppy and the two cups, Eugim... but which deck(s) did you specifically mean?
Re: Two of Cups = Papaver somniferum
3Well even the Noblet is which fit my supposition,I like the expression of the two creatures "gone crazy" smelling the scent of the opium poppy,as in the case of Jean Payen.
Please I see it as an stylization drawing of it,a subliminal depiction.

6...an interesting take, Eugim.
In terms of likely intent, I wonder if such may have played in the design.
There are many pre-tarot decorative petroglyphs that remind me of the two cups design, and they certainly do not call to mind poppies... but it is an interesting idea worth pondering.
If you're interested, here are two from my photos dating from either 2000 or 2005 (I did not double-check when I took these). Click on the images to see high resolution versions:

7Absolutely fabulous !
-I think that the body of the idea is sustained also and by this here.
May be both are ondinas (water nymphs ? )

9In awaiting your friend's image, Eugim, here is another - this time in the Vatican:
Re: Two of Cups = Papaver somniferum
10well I can see this now too, Eugim, since you pointed it out.... esp in that Noblet, but also these other images including what jmd provided, a sort of stylised version of a poppy seed pod. Strange, but I like what it seems to convey as well...like the idea of being swoon-y, maybe over a love or something beloved (which does not have to be another person, I suppose)...hmmm. Very interesting.
