Re: List your recommended Tarot History sites
2I thought this link might be of interest.
It is an Essay by Ioannis Marathakis written in 2006 about Tarot symbolism.
http://www.hermetics.org/tarocchi.html
I agree with everything he has written except his final conclusions I have come to a different conclusion.
I guess it is a case of ''who knows?" but of course I think I am right ;)

4Guess I might as well plug my own site, if that isn't too cheeky 8-)
If you look at the Excerpts section, you will see a rather different take on the historical roots of the triumphant system. The bibliography might be of some interest to those inclined toward esotericism and the history of.

There is a link to my English site below. I also have a bilingual forum, Tarotco, somewhere in the Tarosphere. And there is my blogue in French, link above, where I have started to post in English from time to time.
All this to talk about three things:
1. The structure of the Tarot cards. It is not a three times seven variation...
2. The code in the French names of the Trumps and 'Honneurs'. Last time I checked, there were four ciphers in that code.
3. My beloved French Benedictine Medieval Theory of Tarot Origin. Abbot Suger (cir. 1081-1151) creator...
The decks used on these various sites to discuss my hypothesies are the Tarot de Marseille de Nicolas Conver by Camoin (bicentennial edition 1760-1960) and by Héron. I have also began to look at the Tarot de Marseille de François Chosson. I did some Photoshop work on the Chosson. Didn't try to change the name or the date tough...
Feel free to peruse,

6It would be nice to also discuss your theory re. Abbott Suger and early tarot, Marc.
I looked at your site some time back, and though many things are highly interesting, I have (serious) reservations about your conclusions... but that should not prevent deeper insights from being discussed and perhaps a change of my mind if I have mis-understood some of the force of the evidence.

7Hi Marc,
I don't have reservations, serious or otherwise. So please, DO share your thoughts and ideas.
When I was in England last year, I bought a brilliant book about Cluny. If you haven't read it yet, I'd highly recommend it.
