Re: SOS!!!!!!!!!

I haven't visited or posted for far too long and have only just discovered that all my Photobucket images have been replaced with ugly grey graphics. I'd like to go though my posts replacing them (although it may take some time), but which image sites are trustworthy...? After such a dirty trick I'm certainly not going to pay Photobucket $400 p.a. to host them, but in any case their site is so jumpy that it's painful to use. I've heard that Flickr may go the same way - is there an easy answer?

I was able to download my Photobucket albums with the help of an app from Google Chrome and have uploaded all the tarot-related files to Imgur. It may take me a while to replace all the original images but it'll be worth it to banish those reminders of Photobucket's betrayal of its subscribers and to spring clean my posts.

What has happened with Photobucket? I use it to host a lot of images but haven't checked it for a while - I just looked over some of my old posts and the images still seem to be showing OK? If there are any of my posts not showing the images I will try and sort it if someone lets me know --

Hi Steve, hope things are well with you. Photobucket are now charging $$$ for third party hosting and were holding images already stored there to ransom. At first it seems the images disappeared from the buckets/albums, but there was an outcry and they've now been replaced. Unfortunately on blogs and forums everywhere images stored and linked with the ones at PB have been replaced by an ugly grey graphic (unless their owners have coughed up) - my posts were a mess. A visit to one's images at PB is a bit of a nightmare now - an assault with adverts that jump around all over the place and that remain as an empty white box even when closed. It's a pity I can't replace posts quoting mine that include images, as of course the grey graphics remain in those. Imgur seems good and easy to use - I just hope it doesn't go the same way.

Edited to add:

Steve, Just had a look for PB links in your posts. Weirdly the third post down on page two of the posts in your profile has a PB link but the image is showing perfectly well in the actual post. Perhaps you took out a paying subscription early on or maybe they somehow overlooked you...

Thanks Pen [Shhh - don't say anything, I think they must have overlooked me, for now)
