I found one with the 7 palle

I know only of higher numbers for the palle ... and after 1465 six. The outer form differed occasionally.

The background of the change of the Medici palle was the actual problems of the French king, who faced the attack of Burgundy in near future. And Florence desired better trade connection in the Southern part of France.
Another background was, that Cosimo had died in August 1464, so a political change in Florence. And the Medici chapel (with 3 Magi) was ready in 1464, which led to a public 3 Magi Trionfi, likely celebrated at 6th of January 1465 (would be logical, but I still miss a confirmation).
Naturally Piero di Medici needed positive reactions from other cities to strengthen his own position in Florence (which had become weak in Florence).

...
Yes.

Piero was rather sick and couldn't walk. It's difficult under this conditions to take a very responsible position and the acceptance of others. And most other rulers get a difficult time at the beginning of their rule.

Anyway, the theme in this thread are the 3 holy Kings or Magi ...
Some material to the development of the Magi cult in Florence is in the thread "Cologne exhibition: 3 Magi" ...
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1047&start=10
(mainly second page)
... which was later written than the material in this thread.
