Indeed, only three lines from "Jeu de Tarots de Jean Hémau" to "les figures sont bizarres".
The beginning of the page is about a "Jeu de tarots italiens signé Matteo" from the end of the previous page, and "tarots imprimés avec les armes de Bavière etc..." begins an other deck description.

It could be that these cards were cut and put into an album in the 20th century. D'Allemagne only knows of a single piece of evidence for Jean Hémau.

See H.-R. d'Allemagne, Les cartes à jouer du XIVe au XXe siècle (1906), vol. II, p. 614, n. 2:

Dans l'épaisseur d'une couverture de registre d'état civil d'Epinal, année 1647, il existe une feuille de moulage de cartes au nom de Jean Hémau, ainsi que des feuilles de tarotage; mais, malgré toutes nos recherches, nous n'avons pu découvrir la mention du nom de ce maître cartier dans les registres municipaux.

"In the stuffing of a binding of a civil register in Epinal, year 1647, there is an uncut sheet of cards with the name Jean Hémau, as well as some sheets of card backs; but, despite our all our investigations, we could not find the name of this master cardmaker mentioned in the municipal records."

Perhaps some of the tarotage (a generic term for decorated card backs) were patterned like those used for Tarots, so d'Ambly assumed that Hémau's cards were from a Tarot pack.

Interesting ... meanwhile there is considerable more material to Hemau. Started to work 1623, had a helper "Gerard".
But he's known far before d'Alemagne.

Thanks for the 1851 journal article. There is an actual new 16th century reference to Tarot in there (p. 70) -

"'Au sieur de Bourbonne, chambellan de Monseigneur, soixante escus sol qu'il a gaigné contre mondit seigneur, au jeu du tarot.' (Manuel de dépense faite par le Trésorier général de Monseigneur, pour 1582.)"

I'll get to the Jean Hémau material next - it makes it clear that it is not a Tarot, not this one at least.
